Member for Thebacha
Frieda Martselos was elected to the 19th Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly as the Member representing Thebacha. She was born and raised in Fort Smith, NT, where she continues to spend her adult life working towards building and supporting the community.
Ms. Martselos pursues this goal in a variety of ways. She has 12 years of experience as an elected official, serving as Chief of Salt River First Nation from 2007-2019. She was the Director of the National Capital Commission and Denedeh Investments Inc., the Vice Chair of the Fort Smith Health and Social Services Board, a Director on the Aurora College Board of Governors, and Member and Past President of the Fort Smith Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Martselos received the NWT Wise Women Award in 2009, and the MNP-AFOA Canada Excellence in Aboriginal Leadership Award in 2017.
Ms. Martselos has been married for 45 years, and has two sons.
